Banquet Cancellation Notice

SOO - Stratford & Area takes very seriously the safety and well-being of all of our community members.    

By now everyone is aware of the challenges posed to almost every area of our lives by the COVID-19 virus.    

In order to help stop the spread of this virus, Public Health officials have asked that everyone limit close contact with others as much as possible, something called “social distancing”. 

Because it is not possible to keep a safe distance between people when a large number gather in a relatively small space, our SOO - Stratford & Area Executive Committee has decided to cancel this year’s Athlete Banquet.    

Since we don’t know when it will be safe for us to gather together, we’ve also decided to not reschedule this event in 2020.    

We apologize to everyone who was looking forward to attending this annual celebration of the accomplishments of our athletes and volunteers.   

Please know that, although this decision was very difficult, we feel it was made with the best interests of all of our community members in mind.

On a positive note, we’ve already booked May 29/21 for next year’s Athlete Banquet and are looking forward to gathering together and celebrating with our Special Olympics family at that time.
